CSHA to Sponsor Fall Conference on Brain Science

The Colorado Speech-Language Hearing Association will present a conference on Monday, November 9th, 2009, (schedule TBA) titled: Neurologically Speaking: Applying advances in brain science to intervention with struggling students

The speaker will be Dr. Martha Burns, Director of the Clinical Specialty Market for Scientific Learning Corporation. Her bio, as posted on the CSHA website, follows:

Dr. Martha Burns is the Director of the Clinical Specialty Market for Scientific Learning Corporation. Dr. Burns has been a practicing speech language pathologist in the Chicago area for 40 years. She serves on the Faculty of Northwestern University, department of communication sciences and disorders, in Evanston, Illinois. Dr. Burns is a Fellow of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and has received honors from Northwestern University, Evanston Hospital Corporation, the American Speech Language Hearing Foundation and St. Xavier University.

Doody’s Rating Service selected her book on Right Hemisphere Dysfunction published through Aspen Press as one of the best health sciences books of 1997. In addition to that book, Dr. Burns is the author of a book on aphasia and the test Burns Brief Inventory of Communication and Cognition published by The Psychological Corporation. She has also published numerous articles on language development, language disorders, auditory processing disorders, and adult neurological disorders in professional journals.
