Her clinical Interests include: Early intervention including child language development, early literacy, social communication and peer interaction, inclusion; Autism Spectrum Disorders across the lifespan; family education and support; clinical teaching pedagogy Amy writes to us: After receiving my degree in Speech-Language Pathology from CU Boulder in 1997, I moved to Denver to work at Sewall Child Development Center. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work in an environment with young children that shared the philosophy of the Child Learning Center and used the Storybook Journey approach to curriculum. It was a time of rich exposure to a diverse group of children and families. The practices I learned at CU were reinforced as I applied them in a variety of situations. After three years of intense learning with the transdisciplinary teams at Sewall and crossing disciplines to serve as a preschool teacher, I moved back to Boulder to substitute for Mara Kuczun, classroom teacher in the CLC while she was on maternity leave. When I returned to Sewall I developed and provided services in the toddler classroom with an invigorated sense of purpose and belief in practices. In 2003 I once again returned to CLC as the classroom teacher and I began supervising graduate clinicians in the Speech, Language, Hearing Center. My appreciation for and enjoyment of the process of clinical teaching and mentoring has developed over these last four years, and I continue to strive to honor the legacy of those whose teachings have created and shaped the Child Learning Center.

On a personal note, I live with my sweetie, Chris, and our “most loyal dog of the canyon” Kiah, in the peace and quiet of Eldorado Canyon, just about 8 miles south of CU. You might find us biking, or me in the garden, or Chris barbecuing one of his tasty meals on a spring, summer, or fall evening, if you happen to be in Eldorado Springs. For the winter we seem to stick to reading and hiking.
